Monopoly Goes Pink

The new-look Monopoly board - which features kiwi organisations on street names in towns and cities throughout New Zealand - coincides with the game's 75th anniversary. Resplendent in pink, the game follows the same 'buying, selling and negotiating properties in the quest to own it all' rules that have made it the one of the country's favourite board games. The Monopoly: Pink Ribbon Edition goes on sale from 29 September from The Warehouse and Whitcoulls stores across New Zealand.

New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation's Executive Trustee, Heather Shotter commented that the contributing organisations are not only demonstrating generosity but also good leadership.

'Gregg's, Cadbury, Resene, State Insurance, The Warehouse, Living Nature, Breast Associates, Pascalls and the many other companies behind the donation, are all household names supporting a cause to end what sadly is an all too common household occurrence.'

'The funds raised from sales of Pink Monopoly will help the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation extend its funding of rehabilitation programmes - Dragon Boating, Pink Pilates and Sweet Louise - throughout the country so that more New Zealand women will benefit.'

Hasbro Customer Strategic Marketing Manager Philip McIntosh says when the call went out to companies to get behind a charity edition of Monopoly, the response was swift.

'The aim of Monopoly: Pink Ribbon Edition was to make the game board a reflection of how everyday Kiwis see NZ. We invited key organisations to 'buy and own' a property on the Monopoly board and they responded generously. The board is a reflection of great New Zealand brands supporting great New Zealand women. Kiwis can join the contributing organisations to make this project a greater success; proceeds from each Pink Monopoly game sold will go to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation's Community Outreach Programmes, supporting New Zealand women living with breast cancer.
